Independent Arts Software

Independent Arts Software is one of the German studios with a long history and has been developing commercial gaming software since 1990. Since then, more than 100 titles for different platform have been produced, at the moment, the company focuses on the production of games for Nintendo Wii™ and the hand-held system Nintendo DS™.

As the leading German studio for hand-held productions, over 30 titles have been published in cooperation with partners like Midway, THQ, Koch Media, dtp, UbiSoft, SIM and Mindscape for those platforms. The international success is proven by the top 10 rankings in several charts. IAS won awards for best German hand-held game and best German casual game at the German Entwicklerpreis in 2006 and 2007 with two NDS titles.

Apart from the development for Nintendo hand-helds, Independent Arts Software is a registered developer for Sony PlayStation Portable™ and PlayStation 3.

The Team

The IAS-Team has over 40 employees on site who are supported by a number of external regulars. This mix has proven to be the ideal combination with regard to organizational expenses and team structure in the past. The high motivation of the staff leads to highest productivity and efficiency.

The strong points of IAS – quality, reliability and revolutionary ideas with perfected project management and strict adherence to time schedules – were the pillars for all around happy customers and publishers!

The IAS founders

When the first game was introduced to the market in 1990, the Independent Arts Software GmbH consisted of five friends who had been neighbors for some time. Each of them took over responsibility for a different aspect in the development of this first product.

Holger Kuchling (2nd from left) is the current executive director of Independent Arts Software GmbH. Until today, the number of employees has increased to 40.
